Jean LeRoy dit le Audy was born on 4 September 1670 at Charlesbourg, Québec, New France.1,2,3 He was the son of Siméon LeRoy dit Audy and Claude Des Chalets. Jean LeRoy dit le Audy was christened on 7 September 1670 in the Basilique-cathédrale Notre-Dame de Québec, Québec City, Québec, New France.1,2,4,5,6,7,8,3,9 Jean moved to Côte Saint-François, Montréal, Québec, New France, with his parents, Siméon and Claude LeRoy in 1679.8 When his family left Canada in the autumn of 1682, Jean was left at the home of his uncle and godfather, Jean Girou and his wife, Madeleine Des Chalets. This childless couple raised him as their own.1,5,10 A contract for the marriage of Jean LeRoy dit le Audy and Marie-Thérèse Jobin was signed in February 1691 at Québec City, Québec, New France. Their marriage contact was drawn up by Notary François Genaple.11
