     William Whelpley was born circa 1781 at Stamford, Connecticut.1,2 He was the son of Darling Whelpley and Abigail Peck. William moved to Colony of Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick), British North America, with his parents, Darling and Abigail Whelpley in 1783.3

William Whelpley married Mabel Thomas, age 19 , daughter of Thomas Cope Thomas and Mary Blakeslee, on 3 December 1804 at the Saint John, Queens County, New Brunswick, British North America. They were married by Rev. Dr. Byles.1,4 William Whelpley died in May 1830 at Saint John, Queens County, New Brunswick, British North America.1,2 His estate was probated on 16 July 1830 at Saint John, Queens County, New Brunswick, British North America.

City of Saint John, St. John County, Cooper. Intestate. Administration granted 16 July 1830 to the widow Mabel WHELPLEY, son William WHELPLEY and Lauchlan DONALDSON Esq., a creditor. Fellow bondsmen David WATERBURY and Henry PORTER, all of the City of Saint John. Inventory of "Articles of Furniture now in the Brick House belonging to the Estate of the Late William WHELPLEY" valued at £24, inventory of the cooperage valued at £21, filed 20 December 1830, by Nehemiah VAIL and William McAULEY, the appraisers.1
