     Lee Alfred Whelpley was born on 24 January 1923 at Boston, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Edward Horace Whelpley and Grace Evelen Seymour. Lee appeared on the US Census of 1930 living at 37 Jay Street, Boston, Massachusetts,in the household of his parents, Grace Evelen and Edward Horace Seymour.5 Lee appeared on the US Census of 1940 living at 37 Jay Street, Boston, Massachusetts,in the household of his parents, Edward Horace and Grace Evelen Whelpley.6 On on 1 July 1942, Lee registered for the World War II draft, while living at 37 Jay Street, Boston, Massachusetts. Giving his age as 19, and his employer as Edward H. Whelpley, his father.2 He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.7 According to the Federal Census in 1950, Lee was an auto mechanic.8 In March 1964 Lee lived at Colorado at the time of his father, Edward Whelpley's death.9 He died on 13 August 1999 at City of Hope Hospital, Duarte, Los Angeles County, California, at age 76.1,3,7 Lee's obituary of 29 August 1999, reads:

Whelpley — Lee A., in his 76th year, a retired materials director and World War II veteran of the US Navy. Died August 13, at the City of Hope hospital in Duarte, CA after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Lynn) Patton Whelpley. Mr. Whelpley was born and raised in Boston, MA. He retired as a materials director after 22 years with the Murry Corporation of Cockeysville, MD. He relocated to Placentia, CA for his retirement years. He is survived by his son Steven of Placentia, CA and three brothers, Howard Whelpley and Richard Whelpley both of Athol, MA. Rance Whelpley ster, TX, and two sisters, Louise Whelpley of Lexington, MA and Elaine Whelpley Kolinski of Stoughton, MA, and many other nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late H.E. (Paul) Whelpley of Gun Barrell City, TX. Private Memorial Services will be held Athol, Ma on October 2, 1999.
