     Mercy Knox was born on 21 January 1755.1,2 She was the daughter of Benjamin Knocks.2

Mercy married first on 30 November 1774 at Berwick, Province of Massachusetts Bay (Maine), William Downs Jr., the son of William Downs. He was killed "by a log" in Lebanon, Maine 31 January 1778.1,2 As of 30 November 1774,her married name was Downs.2 As of 26 March 1781,her married name was Lord.1,2

Mercy Knox, age 26, married Nathan Lord, age 24 , son of Elder Ebenezer Lord and Martha Emery, on 26 March 1781.
