Andrea Grace Travis appeared on the US Census of 1930 living at 63 Wisner Avenue, Middletown, Orange County, New York,in the household of her parents, Andrew Alphonse and Mary Josephine Travis.6 Andrea appeared on the US Census of 1940 living at N Russell Street, Boston, Massachusetts,in the household of her parents, Andrew Alphonse and Mary Josephine Travis.7 Circa 1947, Andrea graduated from Girls High School, Boston, Massachusetts.1 Circa 1949, Andrea Grace Travis attended the Shepard-Gill School of Nursing in the Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Essex County, Massachusetts.1
Andrea Grace Travis, age 20, married Richard William Whelpley, age 17 , son of Edward Horace Whelpley and Grace Evelen Seymour, on 13 August 1949 at the Boston, Massachusetts.2,8,9 As of 13 August 1949,her married name was Whelpley. Andrea, age 20 years, and Richard, age 17 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 69 Phillips Street, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.10 Andrea and Richardmoved to Athol, Massachusetts, in 1956.9 She and Richard lived in 1960 at Athol, Massachusetts, according to the 1960 Athol, Massachusetts, City Directory. Richard is listed as a mechanic.11 In March 1964 Andrea and Richard lived at Athol, Massachusetts, at the time of Richard's father, Edward Whelpley's death.12 Andrea graduated circa 1980 from Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner, Massachusetts, with an AA.1 Circa 1984, Andrea graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts, with a BA in Human Services.1 She was a member of the board of directors of the Human Resource Center for Rural Communities in Athol, Massachusetts about 1986.1 In 1986, she retired from L.S. Mrs. Whelpley, retired assistant personnel director for L.S. Starrett Co. in Athol, died Monday inrFranklin Medical Center in Greenfield after a long illness. She was 58.
Born in Newark, N.J., Mrs. Whelpley was a graduate of the former Girls' High School in Boston, and attended the Shepard-Gill School of Nursing in Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport

Mrs. Whelpley leaves her husband, Richard W; three sons, David of Athol, Thomas of Hobbs, N.M.. and Christopher Whelpley of Palm Bay. Fla; a daughter, Elizabeth Ringus of Moosup, Conn; two brothers, Thomas Travis of Greenfield and Robert Travis of Boston; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.1
