     Marie-Josèphe Roy was born on 20 September 1795 at Montréal, Lower Canada, British North America.1 She was christened on 20 September 1795 in the Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal, Montréal, Lower Canada, British North America.1 She was the daughter of Joseph Roy and Josephté Demers. As of 15 October 1810,her married name was Gourd.2

Marie-Josèphe Roy, age 15, married Joseph Gourd, age 25 , son of Laurent Gourd and Marie-Agathé Personne, on 15 October 1810 at the Saint-Esprit, Lower Canada, British North America.
