     Margaret Ann Whelpley was born on 20 March 1856 at Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, British North America.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Captain David C. Whelpley and Harriet Jane Pangbourne.

Margaret Ann Whelpley married John Alexander McKenzie, son of George McKenzie and Albenia Morrison, in 1884.

Margaret, age 34 years, and John McKenzie, age 47 years appeared on the Canadian Census of 1891 at Saint George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada, They were members of the Free Church.5 Margaret, age 44 years, and John McKenzie, age 57 years appeared on the Canadian Census of 1901 at Saint George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada. Their religion was listed as Presbyterian.3 Margaret, age 54 years, and John McKenzie, age 67 years appeared on the Canadian Census of 1911 at Mascarene, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada.6 Margaret, age 64 years, appeared on the Canadian Census of 1921 at Saint George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada, living with her son, Walter and his family. She was a widow.7 She died on 12 February 1931 at Mascarene, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada, at age 74 from volvulus disease of the heart (chronic.)1,2,8 She was buried on 14 February 1931 at McKenzie Field Cemetery, Mascarene, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada. Margaret's epitaph reads:

Mrs. Margaret A. McKenzie


Mrs. Margaret A. McKenzie, widow of John A. McKenzie, passed away after a lingering illness at her home at Mascarene, N. B., on Feb. 12. She was in the 76th year of her age, of a patient and loving disposition and beloved by all who knew her.

She is survived by one son, Waller A; two daughters, Alta and Albenia, all at home, and three brothers, John, Charles and Percy Whelpley, and one sister, Mrs. Lionel H. Buck.

Mrs. McKenzie was the daughter o fthe late David and Harriet Pangbourne Whelpley of Saint John.
