Elizabeth Irene Hennessey

     Elizabeth Irene Hennessey was born on 23 November 1884 at Binghamton, Broome County, New York.^1,2 She was the daughter of Dennis J Hennessey and Mary Ellen Carroll. Elizabeth, age 10, appeared on the New York State Census of 1892 living at Binghamton, Broome County, New York,in the household of her parents, Dennis J and Mary Ellen Hennessey.³ Elizabeth, age 17, appeared on the US Census of 1900 living at 156 Henry Street, Binghamton, Broome County, New York,in the household of her parents, Dennis J and Mary Ellen Hennessey.¹ Elizabeth, age 22, appeared on the US Census of 1905 living at Binghamton, Broome County, New York,in the household of her widowed mother, Mary Ellen Hennessey.⁴ Elizabeth, age 28, appeared on the US Census of 1910 living at Pine Street, Binghamton, Broome County, New York,in the household of her widowed mother, Mary Ellen Hennessey . She worked as a telephone operator.⁵ Elizabeth Irene Hennessey and Aloysius Francis Gallagher obtained a marriage license on 13 May 1913 at Binghamton, Broome County, New York.⁶

Elizabeth Irene Hennessey, age 28, married Aloysius Francis Gallagher, age 28 , son of Francis Gallagher and Anna Elizabeth Donovan, on 14 May 1913.⁷ As of 14 May 1913,her married name was Gallagher. Elizabeth and Aloysius, appeared on the New York State Census of 1915 on 15 Lathrop Avenue, Binghamton, Broome County, New York.⁸ Elizabeth, age 35 years, and Aloysius, age 35 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 on 15 Lathrop Avenue, Binghamton, Broome County, New York.⁹ Elizabeth, age 45 years, and Aloysius, age 45 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 937 Grandview Street, Scranton, Pennsylvania.¹⁰ Elizabeth, age 55 years, and Aloysius, age 55 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 236 White Morsh Street, Haverford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.^11,12 According to the Scranton, Pennsylvania, City Directory, 1942, she lived in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in 1942.¹³ Elizabeth, age 65 years, and Aloysius, age 65 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 356 Dermond Street, Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.¹⁴ Elizabeth died on 2 September 1966 at home on 5010 Dermond Road, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, at age 81 from uremia caused by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.^2,15,16 Elizabeth's obituary of 4 September 1966, reads:
