Paul Aloysius Gallagher

     Paul Aloysius Gallagher was born on 4 February 1920 at Binghamton, Broome County, New York.^1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Aloysius Francis Gallagher and Elizabeth Irene Hennessey. Paul, age 10, appeared on the US Census of 1930 living at 937 Grandview Street, Scranton, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Aloysius Francis and Elizabeth Irene Gallagher.⁶ Paul, age 20, appeared on the US Census of 1940 living at 236 White Morsh Street, Haverford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Aloysius Francis and Elizabeth Irene Gallagher.^7,8 Paul registered for the draft giving his age as 21 and his occupation as student. on 1 July 1941 at 4507 Marvine Road, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.¹ In 1943, Paul graduated from Villanova University with a degree in civil engineering.²

Paul Aloysius Gallagher married Elizabeth Lynch, daughter of Edward A. Lynch and Elizabeth Teresa Drake.



He served in the Navy as a fighter pilot during World War II from 10 June 1943 to 25 October 1945.^2,10,5 Paul, age 29 years, and Elizabeth appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 229 Avon Road, Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.⁹ According to the Federal Census in 1950, Paul was a manager of a food store.⁹ When his father died, in January 1970, Paul lived at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.¹¹ In 1971, he received the Medal of Valor from American Legion Post 355 in Bela Cynwyd for his part in capturing a man and two women who later were found guilty of burglarizing a house in Rosemont.² He was retired in 1989 from Gallagher Industries which he founded in the early 1950s.² He died on 3 February 1997 at Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville, Chester County, Pennsylvania, at age 76 from pneumonia.^2,3,5 Paul's obituary was published on 6 February 1997.² Paul was buried on 6 February 1997 at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.²
