Elmer Francis Roy was born on 19 October 1899 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 He was the son of Joseph Roy and Evangalina Manny. Elmer, age 4, appeared on the US Census of 1900 living at 20 Mansion Street, Glenville, Cuyahoga County, Ohio,in the household of his parents, Joseph and Eva Roy.1 Elmer, age 12, appeared on the US Census of 1910 living at 10611 Hampden Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio,in the household of his parents, Joseph and Eva Roy.10 Elmer registered for the draft giving his address as 10622 Hampden Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, his age as 20, and he was employed as an auto mechanic on 12 September 1918.4
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on 5 November 1918. He was discharged 10 December 1918.9,6,11
Elmer, age 22, appeared on the US Census of 1920 living at 10622 Hampden Avenue, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio,in the household of his parents, Joseph and Eva Roy.12 Elmer was a production clerk in a tool manufacturing company in 1920.12
Elmer Francis Roy, age 26, married Virginia Delight Lynd, age 28 , daughter of The Rev. James Lynd Jr. and Anne Monson, on 17 June 1926 at the Grant, Washington Couonty, Minnesota.
Elmer Roy, 30 years, appeared as Head of Household with Virginia, his wife, on the United States Census of 1930 at 2343 Homer Avenue, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.15 According to the Federal Census in 1930, Elmer was an implement salesman.15 In 1934 Elmer lived at Kansas City, Missouri, according to the Kansas City, Missouri, City Directory, 1934. His occupation is listed as a salesman.16 Elmer Roy, 40 years, appeared as Head of Household with Virginia, his wife, on the United States Census of 1940 at Noble Road, Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.14 According to the Federal Census in 1940, Elmer was a supervisor.14 Elmer registered for the draft giving his address as 21761 Maydale St., Euclid, Ohio, his age as 44, and his employer as the Olympic Oil Corporation on 16 February 1942.5
Elmer Francis Roy appeared as Head of Household with Virginia Delight Lynd, his wife, on the United States Census of 1950 at 21761 Maydale Street, Euclid, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. His father lived with them.17 According to the Federal Census in 1950, Elmer was an assistant buyer at an automobile distributor.17 He died on 8 August 1987 at Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida, at age 87 from cancer.3,7,8,2,6,9 Elmer was buried at Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Height, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.9,7
