Gallagher, 61,
Rites Monday—
Native Binghamtonian Dies in Scranton—
Edward A. Gallagher, 61, native of Binghamton and during the last 25 years assistant general superintendent of the Scranton, Pa., district of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., died at his home in Scranton, Pa., this morning at 6 o'clock.
Among the survivors are two other brothers also prominent in Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea service- -Leo P. Gallagher, Binghamton, superintendent of the Binghamton district,. and A. F. Gallagher, Ardmore, Pa., with Great Atlantic & Pacific vice presidential offices at Philadelphia.
Edward Gallagher was born in Oak street, Binghamton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gallagher. Following graduation from Binghamton Central High school, he became an employee of the Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Co. about 35 years ago. Three years later he accepted advancement in Scranton, and moved to that city, his home since.
He was a member of Scranton trade and business groups and the Scranton Knights of Columbus council.
Mr. Gallagher is survived by his wife, Mary: daughter, Ann M., and one son, Edward, all of Scranton; his mother, Mrs. Anna. E. Gallagher, Binghamton: one sister, Mrs. D. W. Davin, White Plains, and three brothers, Leo P. Gallagher. Binghamton, P. J. Gallagher, Richmond Hill, and A. F. Gallagher, Ardmore, Pa.
Funeral services will be held from St. Paul's Catholic church, Scranton, Monday morning, and burial will follow at Nicholson, Pa. |
