Jacob Lincoln Woodman was born on 16 August 1835 at Auburn, Maine.1,2,3,4,5,6
He was the son of Deacon Greenleaf H. Woodman and Dorothy E. Dunham. Jacob, age 15, appeared on the US Census of 1850 living at Auburn, Maine,in the household of his parents, Greenleaf H. and Dorothy E. Woodman; According to the census, their real estate was valued at $4,000 and their personal estate at $1,000.7 Jacob was a teacher in 1856.1 Jacob, age 25, appeared on the US Census of 1860 living at Auburn, Maine,in the household of his parents, Greenleaf H. and Dorothy E. Woodman. According to the census he was a shoemaker.8 Jacob was a shoemaker in 1860.8
Jacob Lincoln Woodman, age 24, married Julia Franklin Stevens, age 22 , daughter of D. T. Stevens and Julia P. ______, on 24 July 1860. They had no children together.9 In 1863, Jacob registered for the Civil War draft, while living at Auburn, Maine.10
Jacob was a Civil War veteran of the 29th Maine, having enlisted on 6 October 1864. He was later a member of the GAR.11,12,10 Jacob, age 34 years, and Julia Woodman, age 31 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Haverhill, Massachusetts.13 According to the Federal Census in 1870, Jacob was a shoe cutter.13 He died on 21 September 1876 at Haverhill, Massachusetts, at age 41 from typhoid favor.3,11,6,4,14,15
He was buried at Davis Cemetery, East Auburn, Maine. Jacob's epitaph reads:

Birth: Woodman (1856), Woodman (1995), his death record, and Find-a-Grave give his birth date as 16 August. His Birth Record gives it as 6 August. The birth record is a copy from the original, so I am going with the majority and using 16 August.
