Thomas Gaughan was born in January 1842 at County Mayo, Ireland.1,2 He was the son of Bryan Gaughan and Mary ______. Thomas Gaughan immigrated in in 1846 or 1850 to the United States.2 Thomas, age 16, appeared on the US Census of 1860 living at Archbald, then part of Blakely, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Bryan and Mary Gaughan.3
Thomas Gaughan, age 27, married Winifred Noble, age 29 , daughter of Patrick Noble and Mary Balands, in December 1869.4,1 Thomas, age 28 years, and Winifred Gaughan, age 29 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.4 According to the census in 1870, Thomas was a driver in a coal mine.4 Thomas, age 38 years, and Winifred Gaughan, age 39 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.5 According to the census in 1880, Thomas was a miner.5 He was naturalized before 1900.1 Thomas Gaughan, 58 years, appeared as Head of Household with Winifred, his wife, on the United States Census of 1900 at 5 Hickory Street, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.1 According to the census in 1900, Thomas was a miner.1 Thomas, age 68 years, and Winifred Gaughan, age 69 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 at History Alley, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.2 He died on 30 October 1910 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, at age 68.6
