     Edward Charles Burnett was born on 2 May 1880 at Swanton, Vermont.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Frank William Burnett and Calista Ann Prentiss. Edward, age 1, appeared on the US Census of 1880 living at Swanton, Vermont,in the household of his parents, Frank William and Calista Ann Burnett.6

Edward Charles Burnett, age 21, married Evelyn Maud Parker, age 22 , daughter of Sidney Maynard Parker and Mary Jane Clapper, on 15 December 1901 at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Chester, Vermont.

Edward, age 29 years, and Evelyn, age 30 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 on 18 Harwood Street, Lynn, Massachusetts.8 According to the Federal Census in 1910, Edward was a caterer.8 Edward registered for the draft giving his age as 38 and his employer as himself running a restaurant. on 12 September 1918 at 744 Elm Street, Manchester, New Hampshire.4 Edward, age 39 years, and Evelyn, age 40 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 on Myrtle Street, Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.9 According to the Federal Census in 1920, Edward ran a restaurant.9 Edward, age 59 years, and Fay, age 30 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 1162 Hanover Street, Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, Edward and Fay were lodgers with the Heald family.10 According to the Federal Census in 1940, Edward owned and ran a restaurant.10 On in 1942, Edward registered for the World War II draft, while living at 1162 Hanover Street, Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, giving his age as 61 and he was self employed as an owner of a restaurant.3 He and Fay Agnes David filed marriage intentions on 16 May 1947 at Manchester, New Hampshire.11,12

Edward Charles Burnett, age 67, married Fay Agnes David, age 38 , daughter of Andrew David and Edna Habeeb, on 16 May 1947 at Manchester, New Hampshire.13,12,14 Edward and Fay were divorced on 2 March 1948 at Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, from treatment as seriously to injure health.15,14 Edward, age 69 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at Newport, New Hampshire. He was lodging with the Conroy family and running a restaurant. He was divorced.16 He died on 3 December 1950 at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Hanover, Grafton County, New Hampshire, at age 70 from acute ulcerative enteritis due to monocytic leukemia.15,5 Edward's obituary of 5 December 1950, reads:

BELLOWS FALLS- Edward Charles Burnett, 70, restaurant operator, of Newport, N. H., formerly of this town. died in Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Hanover, N. H., early Monday morning after an Illness of six months

Funeral services will be held at Fenton & Hennessey's Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Arnold Swanson' of Windsor will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery.

He was born in Swanton May 1, 1880, son of Frank and Clista (Prentiss) Burnett. He entered the restaurant business at the age of 18and made it his career, For several years previous to 1910 he operated a restaurant on the stairs on Westminster Street. He moved from here to Lynn, Mass. and from there to Newport about two years ago.

His wife, the former Evelyn Parker, died 23 years ago. He leaves, one son, Gordon E. Burnett, and one brother, Henry Burnett, both of Newport.

Birth: Lots of confusion on his exact birth date. Was it the 1st or the 2ed of May? Both of his draft cards state the 2ed, so I will go with that date.
