George W. Brown, age 33, married Alice May Burnett, age 21 , daughter of Francis William Burnett and Vera May Lord, on 6 July 1926 at the Rensselaer County, New York.
George, age 37 years, and Alice, age 24 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 5 Glendale Avenue, Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.5 According to the Federal Census in 1930, George was a laborer in the trucking industry.5 George, age 47 years, and Alice, age 34 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on Route 66, Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.8 George registered for the draft giving his age as 51 and his employer as Gleason Trucking Company. in 1942 at Route 66, Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.4 George, age 57 years, and Alice Burnett, age 44 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at Northampton, Massachusetts.9 According to the Federal Census in 1950, George was a building construction laborer.9 He was retired in 1963 from M.I. O'Connor.3 In 1977, the year George died, he lived at Easthampton, Massachusetts.2 George died on 13 March 1977 at home on 851 Westhampton Road, Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, at age 84.2,10 George's obituary of 14 March 1977, reads:
George Brown, 84, of 851 Westhampton Road, Northampton, died Sunday in his home. He was the widower of Alice (Burnett) Brown, who died in 1971.
He was born in France, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Brown, and came to this country as a young boy, settling in Northampton.
He attended public schools in Northampton. Mr. Brown had been employed by M.I. O'Connor for many years, retiring in 1963.
He is survived by one son, Donald E. Brown of Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Witherell and Mrs. Shirley Leviecki, both of Northampton; six grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the Walter B. Mitchell Funeral Home, Easthampton. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Northampton. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
