     Captain Richard Bartlett was born on 20 October 1676 at Newbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Richard Bartlett and Hannah Emery. Captain Richard Bartlett was christened on 4 February 1676/77 at Newbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony.1 Richard was called "Junior" from 1698 to 1724 in Newbury, when his father died. He was a husbandman, miller, and a cordwainer (shoe maker). In his later years he was refered to as a gentleman.5,4

Captain Richard Bartlett, age 22, married Margaret Woodman, age 22 , daughter of Edward Woodman and Mary Goodridge, on 12 April 1699 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay.

Richard married second on 8 December 1720 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay, Susanna Singletary, at age 39, daughter of Nathaniel Singletaryand Sarah Belknap; and she was the widow of Edmund Eastman. Susanna was living in 1739.1,5,2,4 He died on 10 February 1749/50 at Newbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay, at age 73.5,2,9,4
