Richard Whelpley was born on 6 September 1776 at Greenwich, Connecticut.1,2 He was the son of Darling Whelpley and Abigail Peck. Richard moved to Colony of Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick), British North America, with his parents, Darling and Abigail Whelpley in 1783.3
Richard Whelpley, age 29, married Charlotte Whitney Gorham, age 37 , daughter of Nathaniel Gorham and Mary Whitney, on 13 February 1806.
Richard Whelpley appeared as Head of Household with his wife Charlotte Whelpley, on the Canadian Census of 1851 at Kingston, Kings County, New Brunswick, British North America.5 According to the Canadian Census in 1851, Richard was farmer.5 He died on 23 October 1857 at Long Reach, Kings County, New Brunswick, British North America, at age 81.1,2 Richard was buried at Saint James Anglican Church Cemetery, Long Reach, Kings County, New Brunswick, Canada.1
