Grace Evelen Seymour

     Grace Evelen Seymour was born on 1 November 1893 at Berlin, Vermont.^{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8} She was the daughter of Francis Xavier Seymour and Ellen M. Hill. Grace appeared on the US Census of 1900 living at Middlesex, Vermont,in the household of her parents, Francis Xavier and Ellen M. Seymour.¹ Grace appeared on the US Census of 1910 living at Northfield, Vermont,in the household of her parents, Francis Xavier and Ellen M. Seymour.⁹

Grace Evelen Seymour, age 22, married Edward Horace Whelpley, age 20 , son of Horace William Whelpley and Esther Agnes Matthews, on 2 February 1916 at St. John's Church, Northfield, Vermont. They were married by the Rev. John A. Lynch.^3,10,11 As of 2 February 1916,her married name was Whelpley. Edward and Grace's wedding announcement of 8 February 1916, reads:



She appeared on the US Census of 1920 in the household of her parents, Francis Xavier and Ellen M. Seymour. She had two children, but her husband does not appear on the census record.¹² Grace Seymour, 36 years, appeared as Head of Household with Edward, his wife, on the United States Census of 1930 at 37 Jay Street, Boston, Massachusetts.¹³ In April 1933 Grace lived at Boston, Massachusetts, at the time of her father's death.¹⁴ Grace, age 46 years, and Edward Whelpley, age 44 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 at 37 Jay Street, Boston, Massachusetts.¹⁵ In 1942 Grace and Edward lived at 37 Jay Street, Boston, Massachusetts, according to the 1942 Boston, City Directory. Ed was listed as a President-Treasurer.¹⁶ Grace and Edward lived in 1946 on 37 Jay Street, Boston, Massachusetts, according to the 1943 Boston City Directory. Edward is listed as a garage manager.¹⁶ Grace, age 56 years, and Edward Whelpley, age 54 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at 220 Revere Street, Boston, Massachusetts.¹⁷ In September 1951 Grace lived at Boston, Massachusetts, at the time when her mother died.¹⁸ She lived in Boston, Massachusetts at the time of her husband, Edward Whelpley's death.¹⁹ In March 1990 Grace lived at Brookline, Massachusetts, at the time of her death.⁵ She died on 18 March 1990 at Boston, Massachusetts, at age 96.^14,2,4,6,3,5 Grace was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Northfield, Vermont.²
